Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis solicits proposals in January of each year and selects grant recipients in June. We use a four-step grant application process led by volunteer Impact members in five focus areas. We do not accept grant requests outside of our annual review process.

Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis members pool their $1,000 annual donation to fund large grants of approximately $100,000. The grants are awarded in June each year to local charitable organizations. Proposals are solicited for programs or projects in five focus areas: arts & culture, education, environment, family and health & wellness.
Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis’ funding cycle begins July 1st of each year until June 30th of the next year. On June 27th, 2006 at the members’ Annual Meeting, a grant totaling $152,000 was awarded to one nonprofit in one of the five focus areas. Each member of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis had one vote in determining the grant recipient. This process in 2007 will occur the week of June 11, 2007.
Members of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis serve on the focus area committees to evaluate the grant proposals. The committees select one finalist in each area. In June all members have the opportunity to vote for grant recipients.
Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis strives to award high impact grants around $100,000.00 or more to at least one nonprofit in our community in one or more of the five focus areas. The amount of funds we have to award will be determined on January 9th, 2007. We request 2007 proposals be submitted on January 23rd, 2007 by 7 p.m. We use a four-step grant winnowing process (Letter of Intent, Full Application, Site Visit and Finalist Presentation to Members) led by volunteer Impact members who winnow down the applicant pool in each focus area. The recipient(s) will be announced the week of June 11th, 2007.
Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis welcomes proposals from an organization classified as a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code for supporting organizations.
Your organization must meet the following grant criteria to be considered:
- Be a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and 509(a) public charity.
- Applicant organizations' seat of operation must be based in Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks or Boone County or a recognized local chapter of a state or national nonprofit serving this region. The program must be implemented and serve residents of these eight counties and all monies must be expended here.
- The project must be a new program, expansion of an existing program or may be a joint effort of several agencies.
- Outline a project or program that targets a specific population for a specific duration and with specific measurable goals;
- Use the full amount of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis’ available grant; and
- Plan to expend the funds within 24 months. Preference will be given to projects that call for funds to be spent within 12 months.
- Capital projects (equipment and building) must be clearly wrapped around a program serving the clients of the organization. We do not support capital campaigns.
Types of programs we will not consider:
- General operating expenses; debt reduction or operational deficits;
- Endowments or memorials;
- Bridge funding or interim financing;
- Partisan, political or legislative activities;
- General fund drives or annual appeals;
- Religious-focused or university-based projects where the grant is for the principle benefit of the organization’s own members or adherents;
- Private foundations;
- Legal expenses;
- No general advertising/marketing expenses promoting the agency;
- Fundraising activities or events;
- Athletic uniforms and sports gear
- Capital campaigns. Proposals must distinguish specific capital items that are wrapped around a program.
Because our guidelines will continue to evolve, Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis reserves the right to change its criteria without prior notice at any time. Other restrictions:
- An organization may submit only one application each year.
- An organization that has received a grant from Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis may not reapply in the following two years.
Impact 100 will accept grant applications in five focus areas: arts & culture, education, environment, family and health & wellness. Each grant applicant must select only one focus area for grant consideration. Impact 100 will not provide guidance on selecting the appropriate focus area.
