Founders Letter

We appreciate the opportunity to share with you our passion for Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis. For those who have already joined us in this important endeavor, we thank you. Without you, our founding year’s dream of delivering a minimum of $100,000 to a nonprofit in the Greater Indianapolis community would remain just that – a dream. If you haven’t yet joined us, we hope you’ll take the time to explore our site and to learn more about us. We’ve taken great care to anticipate any questions you might have about our organization.

Women’s giving circles like ours have a history of proven success. Impact 100s in Cincinnati, Pensacola and Austin have, in three short years, given over one million dollars in high impact grants to nonprofits in their respective communities. We’re inspired by their success and have modeled Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis after these innovative organizations. Some aspects of our shared model include:

  • The power of the collective - By banding together at least 100 women, each contributing $1,000, we have a stronger voice and more profound impact on our community.
  • One woman one vote – Every Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis member has an equal vote in deciding where her money goes.
  • Choose your level of involvement - You may choose to do nothing more than donate $1,000 and then cast your vote at the annual meeting in June. Or you may wish to serve on one of the five grant focus area committees, or organizational committees such as marketing, membership etc.
  • 100% of member donations go to the grant recipient(s) – All operating costs of the organization are paid for by donations to “Friends of Impact 100” (donations of less than $1,000, corporate donations or matching gifts).

Admittedly, our goals are bold. Quite simply, we intend to improve the quality of life in our diverse community by effecting sustainable social change. Join us on our journey as a founding member and co-creator of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis.

Gratefully,
Kelli Norwalk       Donna Oklak

A Note about Conflict of Interest
We are committed to acting with integrity in all of our relationships, and to selecting our grant recipients through an honest and fair process. In support of this commitment, IMPACT 100 Greater Indianapolis has adopted a Conflict of Interest Policy that requires disclosure of relationships between our members and any grant applicant. Generally, IMPACT 100 Greater Indianapolis’ policy recognizes the potential for conflict of interest and safeguards against them by requiring any board committee member to excuse herself from the discussion and/or vote on any topic where a conflict arises.

Members who are serving on the board or a committee of IMPACT 100 Greater Indianapolis will be formally required to disclose potential conflicts of interest. However, IMPACT 100 Greater Indianapolis expects all members to act in an objective and fair manner. Focus area committee members will be required to sign our Conflict of Interest Policy. In particular, members are expected to refrain from any attempt to gain an unfair advantage for any particular grant applicant by, among other things, disclosing confidential information and/or attempting to persuade other members of IMPACT 100 Greater Indianapolis to vote for such grant applicant. For a copy of our policy, click on the link above.

Please contact us with questions or for additional membership information at membership@impact100indy.org.

Friends:

One of the primary goals of Impact 100 is to ensure that 100% of each Member’s $1,000 donation passes through directly to the annual Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis grant(s). In order to achieve this goal, we graciously accept donations from individuals and local businesses to underwrite the organization’s overhead expenses, either monetarily or in kind. We honor those who provide this type of underwritten support with the title of “Friend.”

Just as with the Members’ donations, 100% of all Friends contributions are also tax-deductible. In appreciation of our Friends’ contributions, we list all Friends who contribute $250 or more, either monetarily or in-kind, on our website, at our formal information sessions, at the annual meeting, as well as verbally at many of our meetings and recruitment events.

Donations of Appreciated Securities

Gifts of stock are a great method of charitable giving. Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis accepts donations of stock in a publicly-traded company as payment for membership. Remember, 100% of your member donation will be returned to the community in the form of a grant(s) to a local nonprofit. And all stock gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Electronic transfer is the easiest method of gifting stock when a donor maintains holdings in a brokered account. Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis’ host, Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) will assist you in this process. Please carefully review the following instructions for transferring gifts of stock.

1. Print and complete (1) copy of the Membership Form (e-mail version) | (print version).
2. Print and complete (2) copies of the Stock Gift Form.
3. Print a copy of the Stock Transfer DTC Instructions.
4. Mail or fax (1) copy of the Membership Form and (1) copy of the Stock Gift Form to: Central Indiana Community Foundation, Attention: Brenda Delaney, 615 N. Alabama, Suite 119, Indianapolis, IN, 46204-1498 or fax number: 317-637-6408.
5. Give (1) copy of the Stock Gift Form to your brokerage firm along with (1) copy of the Stock Transfer DTC Instructions. They will arrange the transfer of securities to CICF on behalf of Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis.
6. Please call Brenda Delaney, CICF Accounting Manager, at 317-631-6542 ext. 115 to notify her when the stock transfer will be taking place in order to ensure that the proceeds are properly distributed to Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis. *Please Note – if you are planning to make a stock gift in the month of December, please call Brenda Delaney prior to executing the transfer.
